You Owe It to the Beauty of Your Inner Tube

ByWilliam Merricle

Never feel hungry again.
Innocence confessed
A string of murders.
A messiah flopped
Face down in
A plate of pasta.
The moral center of
The universe was revealed
To be a schizophrene.
Salvation was left behind
The bed in a New
Jersey motel room.

Tightens, lifts, and firms.
Kissing on god
Eventually required surgery.
The perfect howl
Waxed philosophical.

Each day you'll feel better.
Jack Ruby's slippers
Were found at the side
Of a country road.
The bodies of fourteen graces
Were perfectly preserved.
Devotion closed
The slash with seven stitches.
Perseverance complained
That someone had stolen
His pulmonary artery.

Feel stronger and full of pep and energy.
On top of that,
His head was changing shape.
Snappy scriptural phrases
Were baked in the oven.
Memory complained
That she wanted to stay.

Each time you look in the mirror you'll see the thrilling results.
Hope lived beneath mountains.
Justice was sought
For crimes she couldn't commit.
Subpoenas swept the land.
Patience ran
Across the slick rocks of heaven.
It was just a matter of time
Before something tragic happened.

On your way to a happier and more attractive you.
Fortitude explained
That he was falling apart
At the seams.
The moon was fitted
With pithy rhymes.
Prayer was a blabbermouth.
Cancer wished to be
All it could be
Before summer's end.

Have more confidence in yourself.
Mercy was spiritually reborn
As a werewolf.
There appeared
Two dead-bolt locks:
Fear of existing;
Fear of not.
Pain performed
Oral sex on pathos.

Deliverance is at hand.
